Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using My College Trail ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). The Service is operated by Little Orange Lamb, LLC ("My College Trail," "we," "our," or "us").
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may use the Service only with the consent of your parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your and their own behalf. A parent or legal guardian may also create an account and agree to these Terms on behalf of a 13-to-17-year-old student in their care.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. About My College Trail
My College Trail is a service that builds a profile of a student's interests, priorities, and preferences and uses it to generate AI-assisted college matches and application-planning tools. Matches and plans are produced by an artificial intelligence model and are intended as general guidance to support a student's college search only.
My College Trail is not a college counseling or admissions advising service. The matches and plans generated by the Service do not constitute professional college counseling, admissions advising, financial-aid advice, or legal advice. Students and parents should consult a qualified school counselor or admissions professional before making significant decisions about applications, enrollment, or finances.
3. Eligibility and Account Types
3.1 Age Requirements
- The Service is for students 13 and older. We do not permit accounts for, or knowingly collect information from, children under 13. You must confirm that you are at least 13 years old to create an account.
- Students aged 13 to 17 may create an account only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, as described in Section 1, or be managed under a parent or guardian account.
- By creating or managing an account for a 13-to-17-year-old student, you represent that you are that student's parent or legal guardian and you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of the student's information as described in our Privacy Policy.
3.2 Account Accuracy
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Plans and Billing
4.1 Plans
My College Trail offers the following plans:
- Free: $0 — build your profile and see your single strongest college match at no cost.
- Full Trail: $9.99/month — your top matches ranked to your profile, application cards, and the features described on our pricing page.
- Additional application cards: $4.99 for each additional pack of 10 application cards. Each pack is a one-time purchase, not a recurring charge.
Prices are in U.S. dollars and are subject to change with 30 days' notice.
4.2 Billing
Your Full Trail subscription is billed monthly on the date you initially subscribed. Additional application-card packs are charged as one-time purchases at the time you buy them. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees due. You agree to Stripe's terms of service, available at stripe.com/legal.
4.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not issue refunds for partial billing periods. Matches you have already revealed under a paid plan remain visible to you after cancellation, as described on our pricing page.
4.4 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will attempt to retry the charge. Access to paid features of the Service may be suspended until payment is resolved.
5. Minors
The Service is limited to users 13 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Students aged 13 to 17 may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, as described in Section 3. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of a minor's information, or withdraw consent, at any time — through the account settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. Where applicable state law affords additional protections to the personal information of minors, we extend those protections to minor accounts. 6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service
- Share account credentials with others outside your household
- Misrepresent your age or the age of a student
- Use the Service in a way that could harm, disable, or impair it
7. AI-Generated Content
College matches and plans generated by My College Trail are produced by a large language model (AI). While we work to ensure quality and accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any match or plan for a particular student's needs.
Results will vary. My College Trail does not guarantee admission to, acceptance by, financial aid from, or any particular outcome at any college, and college information may change after it is presented to you.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Our Content
The My College Trail name, logo, website design, and underlying software are owned by Little Orange Lamb, LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
8.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of the profile data and personal information you enter into the Service. By entering this data, you grant My College Trail a limited license to use it to provide the Service to you, including processing by our service providers — such as the artificial intelligence provider that generates college matches — as described in Sections 4.1, 5.2, 6.1, and 6.2 of our Privacy Policy. This license is limited to providing and improving the Service, ends when the data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy's retention practices, and does not permit us to sell your data or use it for advertising.
Separately, as described in Section 4.1 of our Privacy Policy, we may derive de-identified and aggregated data from structured profile signals and use it to develop and improve the matching, recommendation, and profile-building features of the Service. Once de-identified, that data is no longer your personal information, and our rights in the models and datasets we develop from it survive deletion of your account. This does not permit us to sell your data or use it for advertising.
8.3 Generated Matches and Plans
College matches and plans generated by the Service are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell, redistribute, or sublicense them.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, AND NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS ANY RIGHTS YOU HAVE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW THAT CANNOT BE LAWFULLY LIMITED.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LITTLE ORANGE LAMB, LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Little Orange Lamb, LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, where required by law, material changes to how we collect, use, or disclose a minor's personal information require renewed parental or guardian consent as described in our Privacy Policy, and such changes do not take effect for existing minor accounts through continued use alone.
14. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may close your account and request deletion of your information at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. Cancelling your subscription alone does not close your account or delete your information; account data is retained and eventually deleted as described in our Privacy Policy's retention practices.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Durham County, North Carolina.

16. Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings on that subject.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, subject to the commitments regarding personal information in our Privacy Policy.
